Privacy policy
Silver Springs Mandir uses a limited WhatsApp-based accounting workflow to keep temple collections and expenses accurate. This page explains what information is handled, why it is needed, and how to request correction or deletion.
Information we receive
When an authorised temple committee member sends an accounting message, we may receive their WhatsApp phone number, profile name, message text, message identifier, delivery status and timestamp. The message may include transaction details such as an amount, donor or payee name, occasion or purpose, and payment mode.
How we use it
We use this information only to record temple collections and expenditure, calculate cash-in-hand, identify the current custodian of temple funds, prevent duplicate entries, maintain operational logs, and send a confirmation or error response to the sender.
What appears publicly
The public website displays aggregate collection, expenditure and cash-in-hand totals, plus the names and amounts held by current custodians. Donor phone numbers, donor names, individual transactions, message contents and authorised-sender numbers are not published.
Storage and service providers
Accounting records are kept in a restricted Google Sheet. The workflow uses Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API, Google Apps Script and Google Sheets, and Cloudflare Pages. These providers may process limited technical data to operate their services under their own privacy terms. Silver Springs Mandir does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Retention and security
Access is limited to people responsible for temple administration and accounting. Records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for accounting, audit, dispute resolution, security and applicable legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Correction and data deletion requests
To ask what personal information we hold, correct it, or request deletion, email silverspringstemple@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request.” Include the relevant phone number and enough detail to locate the record. We will verify the request and remove or anonymise eligible data within a reasonable period. Some financial records may need to be retained where accounting or legal obligations require it.
